Tomlinson
breaks record with TD
Chargers
running back LaDainian Tomlinson made history Sunday afternoon
by recording a rushing touchdown in his 14th-consecutive
game. Tomlinson’s 16-yard touchdown run came on
3rd-and-1 with 12:13 remaining in the second quarter of
San Diego’s contest at Denver.
The
score pushed Tomlinson ahead of former Washington Redskins
running backs John Riggins and George Rogers, who each
recorded 13-game streaks. Tomlinson tied Riggins and Rogers
last week with a two-yard touchdown run in the Chargers’
season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
Tomlinson
now has his eye on the NFL record for consecutive games
with a touchdown either rushing or receiving. That mark
is held by former Baltimore Colt Lenny Moore, who scored
in 19 straight games (1963-65).
