Tomlinson
and McCardell hit impressive milestones
And
the beat goes on. Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson’s
one-yard touchdown run on the Bolts’ opening possession
Sunday night extended his NFL record for rushing touchdowns
in consecutive games to 15.
A
week ago in Denver, Tomlinson broke the record, which
was previously held by former Washington Redskins backs
John Riggins and George Rogers. Tomlinson now has his
eye on the NFL record for consecutive games with a touchdown
either rushing or receiving. That mark is held by former
Baltimore Colt Lenny Moore, who scored in 19 straight
games (1963-65).
Tomlinson
paced the Chargers with four carries for 24 yards on the
drive and also caught two passes for 13 yards as the Bolts
marched 65 yards in eight plays. The score also gave LT
the fourth-highest career point total in team history.
The touchdown gave Tomlinson 384 points to push him past
Dennis Partee.
Chargers
wide receiver Keenan McCardell became the 23rd player
in NFL history to reach the 10,000 yard plateau Sunday
night. The milestone came on a 26-yard touchdown pass
from running back LaDainian Tomlinson. McCardell also
a 15-yard touchdown catch and a 27-yard leaping grab that
set up Tomlinson’s second score of the night.
