Tomlinson
extends NFL-record
Another
week, another LaDainian Tomlinson touchdown.
Tomlinson
extended his NFL-record streak of consecutive games with
a rushing touchdown to 16 Sunday with an 8-yard run against
the New England Patriots. With the Chargers trailing 14-10
late in the second quarter, Tomlinson weaved his way through
New England’s aggressive front and plunged into
the end zone to give San Diego a three-point advantage
just before halftime.
The
previous NFL record for consecutive games with a rushing
touchdown before Tomlinson broke it was 13 games, a mark
shared by a pair of former Washington Redskins, John Riggins
(1982-83) and George Rogers (1985-86).
Tomlinson
now eyes the NFL record for consecutive games with ether
a rushing or receiving touchdown. That mark is held by
former Baltimore Colt Lenny Moore, who scored in 19 straight
games from 1963-1965.
Tomlinson’s seven touchdowns this season lead the
NFL.
